Top 5 Tips to Give a Car as a Gift This Holiday Season

The holidays are here and we are all wracking our brains trying to decide what to get our loved ones, right? Well, if you have a family member or friend who is in the market for a vehicle, giving the gift of a car could be the right option. While it may be extravagant, for some, the gift of a vehicle is the perfect present. We have our top 5 tips to consider if you’re looking at giving such an extravagant gift.

1. Think about what kind of car they want. While you may think that they want to have a sedan, they may be in the market for a van or crossover. Try to find out what kind of car they want and would fit their needs. Another thing to keep in mind is what colors they would enjoy having in a vehicle. There’s nothing worse than getting such an extravagant gift and then seeing the look of disappointment on their face. That’s certainly not what you were planning.

2.  Make sure you have a financing and titling strategy in mind. The logistics of pulling this off will be key. If the car is for a significant other and you need to finance it, keep in mind that making it a surprise might be out of the question, especially if you'll both need to be listed on loan documents and paper work. If it’s a gift though, we would be happy to work with you on coming up with a plan of action with both financing and titling.

3. Let us know it’s a gift. That was we don’t call or send paperwork to your house that will give away the surprise. You should also consider giving us your cell phone number instead of a house phone or your email, instead of a family one.

4. Purchase the vehicle well in advance of the holiday. Make sure you’re giving yourself plenty of breathing room between the date you purchase the vehicle and the day you want to give it as a gift. Mainly just in case issues arise. Don’t come in on Christmas Eve and expect that everything will be ready to go by Christmas Day

5. Buy the bow. Come on. You’ve come this far by purchasing the car as a gift….make sure you get the big bow for the top.
