The Nissan Maxima is a full-size car sold primarily in North America, the Middle East, and China. Making its sales debut in 1981 for the 1982 model year as the Datsun Maxima, it replaced the earlier Datsun 810. The name "Maxima" dates back to 1980 for the 1981 model year when the upscale 810 sold as the "810 Maxima" in North America. Like the 810, early versions of the Maxima had their origins in the Datsun/Nissan Bluebird. The Datsun brand was phased out in favor of Nissan in 1983 for the 1984 model year, thus becoming the Nissan Maxima.
The Nissan Maxima is currently on the eight generation but still holds the badge, "4-Door Sports Car", and is the flagship sedan for Nissan cars. It was unveiled at the 2015 New York Auto Show and was briefly featured earlier in Nissan's Super Bowl ad. The 2017 Nissan Maxima is set to hit dealerships in the fall of 2016 and is a continuation of the current eight generation which has the "fighter jet" look. The A, B and C-pillars meld seamlessly into the glasswork so the roof appears to hover over the cabin, just like the canopy of a fighter jet.
Up front, the boomerang-shaped headlights feature a captivating LED signature line that stays illuminated at all times. In back, LEDs also accent the wraparound taillights, and "4DSC" is embossed in the lamp housings, front and rear-a subtle reminder of what the new Maxima is all about. 18" Aluminum alloy wheels are aggressively styled, exclusively for Maxima, and Maxima SR's 19" aluminum-alloy wheels get their mirror-effect from a unique diamond-cut finish.
